Winnipeg Plumbing Questions & Answers

Not sure why your drain keeps clogging, whether your water heater needs replacing or what to do during a plumbing emergency? We've answered some of the questions Winnipeg homeowners and businesses ask us about plumbing repairs, installations, estimates and service.

General Plumbing & Drainex Plumbing

What plumbing services does Drainex Plumbing provide?

We help Winnipeg homeowners and businesses with plumbing repairs, installations, replacements and larger projects. That includes water heater repair, drain cleaning, toilet and faucet repairs, leak concerns, fixture installations, renovations and new-construction plumbing. If you're not sure which service fits, tell us what's happening rather than worry about choosing the right technical name.

We'll talk through the symptoms, property type and urgency, then confirm the appropriate scope. A recurring blockage, a leaking connection and a planned bathroom upgrade need different approaches. Our service directory explains the individual options, but calling us is the best starting point when water is actively causing damage.

Explore our plumbing services

Do you offer residential and commercial plumbing?

Absolutely. We help with the fixtures and plumbing you rely on at home, as well as work for commercial properties. A running toilet in a house and a drainage problem during business hours both deserve clear advice, but access, scheduling and the impact on other users can be quite different.

For a business, tell us what the property is used for, which areas are affected and whether customers, staff or tenants still need access. For a home, let us know if there's another usable bathroom or a shared drain concern. We'll discuss the work and scheduling rather than assume the same arrangement suits every property.

Residential plumbingCommercial plumbing

Do you handle industrial plumbing projects?

Yes, we take enquiries about industrial plumbing projects. The first step is understanding your site and the actual plumbing work involved. Let us know about the system, the problem or proposed upgrade, access restrictions and any operating or shutdown requirements. Industrial work can involve site-specific conditions that can't be assessed from a short service label.

We'll confirm whether the requested work is within our available scope before agreeing to it. Please don't assume we support every process system, specialist material or equipment type. Sharing the project details early helps us discuss the right next step without promising capabilities, equipment or a completion window we haven't confirmed.

Discuss an industrial plumbing project

How much experience does your plumbing team have?

Our team brings over a decade of plumbing experience across repairs, installations and larger projects.

Experience is most useful when it helps you understand the choices in front of you. We aim to explain what the symptoms suggest, what still needs checking and whether repair, replacement or further investigation makes sense. Ask us about relevant experience for your particular fixture, building or project; a broad experience statement isn't a substitute for confirming the work you need.

Why should I choose Drainex Plumbing?

We're locally based in Winnipeg, and we want getting plumbing help to feel straightforward. We offer competitive, affordable pricing, free phone estimates and free on-site estimates for larger projects. We'll discuss the proposed work, explain the choices and complete a final walkthrough so you can ask questions about what was done.

Our supplied five-star customer reviews include feedback about communication and workmanship. In their review, JS Refrigeration & HVAC Inc. described us as "Honest, reliable, and very knowledgeable." That's one customer's experience, not a guarantee of a particular result or arrival time. We encourage you to read the reviews alongside the scope, estimate and coverage terms for your own work.

Are your plumbers licensed and insured?

Please ask us to confirm the trade credentials relevant to the plumber and the work you're booking. Red Seal credentials have been reported for our team, but the exact credential holder still requires verification. We don't currently publish a named holder or claim that every team member holds the same qualification. Credential and permit requirements depend on the actual work.

Drainex reports $5 million in insurance coverage. If your property manager, contractor or project requires evidence, request a current insurance certificate and confirm that it is suitable for the proposed scope. A reported coverage amount isn't a substitute for checking the current policy details, and insurance is separate from our workmanship guarantee.

Emergency Plumbing

Do you offer 24/7 emergency plumbing in Winnipeg?

Yes. We offer emergency plumbing 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If a pipe has burst, wastewater is escaping or a leak is causing damage, call (204) 869-2383 rather than wait for a form response. Tell us your location, what's happening and whether anyone is near standing water or another hazard.

We'll discuss urgency, confirm availability and give you the expected arrival time for your address. Around-the-clock emergency service doesn't mean every repair can be completed immediately: the fault, safe access and suitable parts can affect the work. If there's immediate danger to life, contact emergency services first.

Emergency plumbing information

How quickly can a plumber arrive during an emergency?

Our emergency arrival target is within one hour, with availability and timing confirmed by phone. Please call with the actual service address, not just the community name, so we can discuss your location and the situation. Don't treat the target as a guaranteed arrival time before we've spoken with you.

Travel, current availability and safe access can affect the expected arrival. The one-hour target concerns arrival, not completion of the repair. If the work needs further assessment or parts, we'll discuss that separately. Our general enquiry response target is also within one hour, but that is a reply target, not an emergency dispatch or appointment confirmation.

How to request emergency help

What counts as a plumbing emergency?

A burst pipe, uncontrolled leak, overflowing toilet or sewage backup can be an emergency because of damage or health risks. A sudden loss of water or an essential fixture may also be urgent, depending on the property and who relies on it. Tell us what's happening and we'll discuss the next step rather than expect you to diagnose the fault.

A slow drip that can be safely contained is different from water spreading through a ceiling. Keep people away from sewage and electrical hazards, and stop using fixtures that are backing up. If water is near electrical equipment, don't step into it or touch equipment to investigate. Personal safety comes before protecting finishes or belongings.

Discuss an urgent plumbing problem

What should I do if a pipe bursts?

If you know where the main water shutoff is and can reach it safely, turn off the water supply. Don't enter standing water to reach a valve, electrical panel or appliance. Keep people away from wet electrical equipment and call for appropriate emergency help if there's an immediate electrical or other safety danger.

Then call us with your address and explain where the water is escaping. Don't try to dismantle pressurized piping or operate gas or electrical equipment affected by water. If safe, note the time and take photographs for your records without delaying the call. We'll confirm availability and discuss the plumbing response; damage restoration and insurance decisions are separate matters.

What should I do if sewage backs up into my basement?

Stop using toilets, sinks, showers and laundry facilities that could add wastewater to the affected system. Keep children, pets and other occupants out of the area, avoid contact with sewage and don't enter standing water where electrical hazards may be present. Call us to discuss urgent plumbing assistance rather than try repeated flushing or chemical treatments.

The source might be a restriction, damaged piping or a sewer-system issue; the visible backup doesn't establish the cause. The City of Winnipeg advises residents with basement flooding to contact 311 and their insurer. Plumbing work and contaminated-water cleanup are different needs. Follow official cleanup guidance and discuss safe restoration separately rather than assume clearing the line makes the area safe.

Should I call or submit a form for emergency plumbing?

Please call (204) 869-2383 for an emergency. A web form is for general enquiries and planned work; it doesn't dispatch a plumber, reserve an appointment or confirm that someone is on the way. Don't wait for an email or form reply while water or sewage is causing damage.

On the call, tell us the service address, the affected fixtures and whether you've safely isolated the water. We'll confirm availability and expected arrival for that location. If you've already sent a form about an urgent problem, call as well. For a non-urgent repair or renovation, a form is a useful way to start a conversation about scope and scheduling.

Estimates, Pricing & Appointments

Do you offer free plumbing estimates?

Yes. We offer free phone estimates and free on-site estimates for larger projects. Tell us what needs attention, the property location and any information you already have about the fixture or system. You don't need to dismantle anything to gather details; a description of the symptoms is a good starting point.

Some concerns need assessment before the repair scope can be clear. We'll explain what information is missing rather than treat a phone conversation as a confirmed diagnosis. Ask what the estimate includes and what further work would need discussion. Sending an estimate form starts that conversation; it doesn't automatically book an appointment or establish a fixed price.

Request a free plumbing estimate

How much does a plumber cost in Winnipeg?

There isn't one useful price for every plumbing problem. Replacing an accessible toilet component is a different job from investigating a concealed leak or replacing a water heater. The cause, compatible parts, access and labour needed all affect what the work involves. We focus on competitive, affordable pricing, but we won't invent a price before understanding the scope.

Call us for a free phone estimate and explain the symptoms and property location. For larger projects, free on-site estimates are available. Ask which parts and labour are included, what remains uncertain and how additional work would be discussed. That helps you compare the proposed work, not just an unexplained number.

Talk through your estimate

Why can plumbing repair costs vary?

Two leaks can look similar while needing different repairs. One may be at a visible fitting; the other may involve concealed piping, lifting a fixture or checking for related damage. The equipment type, availability of compatible parts, condition of existing connections and number of affected fixtures can change the labour and materials required.

Investigation and repair are also different stages. A recurring blockage may need more information before we can discuss a lasting solution. Tell us about previous repairs and any access restrictions, especially in an occupied business or rental property. We'll discuss the scope and any uncertainties so you can understand why one estimate may differ from another.

Discuss your repair requirements

Do you charge extra for emergency plumbing?

Please ask us about the applicable charges when you call. We haven't published a universal emergency surcharge or an after-hours fee policy, so don't assume an emergency visit costs the same as a scheduled job or that a particular extra fee always applies. Availability, timing and the work itself need to be discussed for your situation.

Ask what the quoted amount includes, whether assessment and repair are separate, and what would happen if additional work is needed. Our 24/7 availability and one-hour arrival target don't establish a price. We'll confirm expected arrival by phone; pricing and the agreed repair scope should be discussed as part of that conversation.

Emergency service information

How quickly do you respond to enquiries?

We aim to respond to general enquiries within one hour. That's a response target, not a guaranteed appointment, arrival time or repair-completion window. A general message starts a conversation about your needs; we'll still need to confirm the scope, location, availability and next steps with you.

Include a contact number, the property location and a short explanation of the concern to help us have a useful first conversation. If the situation becomes urgent or water is actively causing damage, call instead of waiting for a form response. Emergency arrival has its own one-hour target, with availability and timing confirmed by phone for your address.

Send a general enquiry

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Cash, Cheque, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and E-Transfer. Let us know your preferred method when arranging the work so payment details can be confirmed.

If you need to know about payment timing, deposits, invoicing for a business or any other payment conditions, please ask when you call. We haven't published blanket policies for those arrangements, and listing a payment method doesn't establish credit terms or a financing offer.

Water Heater Repair & Installation

Why is my water heater not producing hot water?

The cause depends on the heater. An electric unit may have a heating-element or control fault; a gas unit can have different ignition, fuel-supply or safety-related concerns. If only one tap or shower is affected, the problem may be at that fixture rather than the heater. Those possibilities need checking, not a guess based only on a cold shower.

Tell us whether cold water still flows, which hot taps are affected and any visible fault indication. Share the model and fuel type if safely accessible. Don't open covers, adjust gas components, work on electrical parts or repeatedly reset a unit that shuts down. We'll confirm the suitable service scope before booking.

Water heater repair

Why does my hot water run out so quickly?

Your household may be using more hot water than the system can supply, but reduced heating performance or a control fault can feel similar. Think about whether this has always happened during back-to-back showers or has recently started under normal use. If one shower changes temperature while other taps stay hot, a fixture-specific concern may be involved.

We'll ask about the heater type, normal demand and when the water cools. A component repair may help a faulty system, but it won't automatically increase an undersized heater's capacity. Equally, replacing the heater won't necessarily fix one shower's control. Understanding the pattern helps us discuss an option that addresses the actual concern.

Understand hot-water problems

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

A serviceable fault on an otherwise sound heater may make repair worthwhile. A failed tank, repeated breakdowns, unavailable parts or significant deterioration can make replacement more practical. Age provides context, but it isn't enough on its own to decide that the whole unit needs to go.

We'll also consider whether the system still meets your household or business needs. Ask what a repair would address, what replacement would involve and whether product warranty coverage may apply. The available connections, access and equipment requirements can affect a replacement project. We'll explain those differences without promising a universal lifespan, automatic energy savings or a repair for every model.

Water heater repairWater heater replacement

What causes a water heater to leak?

Water near a heater can come from a connection, a serviceable component, discharge from a safety device or deterioration of the tank itself. Water may travel before it pools, so the puddle's location doesn't prove the source. A connection repair and a failed tank can require very different decisions.

Don't cap or block a relief discharge, dismantle pressurized parts or touch wet electrical equipment. If you know the appropriate water shutoff and can reach it safely, isolating the supply may limit damage. Call us about an active leak. If you smell gas, leave the area and contact the appropriate emergency service rather than stay to investigate the heater.

Help with a leaking water heaterUrgent plumbing help

Do you install and repair tankless water heaters?

Yes, we offer tankless water heater installation, repair and replacement services. Tell us the model, fuel type, symptoms and any fault code you can see without opening the unit. We'll confirm the equipment and work we can support rather than promise service for every brand or system configuration.

For a new installation, we'll discuss your hot-water demand, available connections, proposed location and the requirements of the equipment being considered. Switching from a storage tank isn't automatically a like-for-like replacement. Tankless systems also have maintenance requirements that depend on the manufacturer and operating conditions. We won't recommend unsafe DIY work on gas, electrical, venting or pressurized components.

Tankless water heater repairTankless water heater installation

What affects the cost of water heater replacement?

The heater type and capacity are only part of the project. Access, removal of the old unit, existing connections and any necessary changes to the proposed installation can affect the scope. A straightforward replacement can be different from changing heater type or relocating equipment. Suitable parts and the equipment's installation requirements also matter.

We'll talk through your needs and what the estimate includes rather than quote a universal replacement price. Ask about installation labour, included materials and any work outside the plumbing scope. Manufacturer coverage varies by product and may not cover associated replacement labour. We offer free phone estimates and free on-site estimates for larger projects.

Drain Cleaning & Sewer Problems

Why does my drain keep clogging?

Grease, hair, soap residue, food scraps and other material can restrict a drain. If the same blockage keeps returning, there may be material left farther along the line or a defect that encourages repeated trouble. Briefly restored flow doesn't prove the underlying cause has been resolved.

Tell us which fixtures are affected, how long an earlier clearing helped and whether anything else backs up at the same time. We'll discuss whether cleaning is the right starting point or whether further investigation is useful. Cleaning can remove an obstruction, but it doesn't repair a broken pipe. We don't assume every recurring clog needs a full line replacement either.

Drain cleaningDrain repair

When should I call a plumber for a slow drain?

Call when slow drainage keeps returning, normal use makes water rise or several fixtures are affected together. Gurgling, persistent odours and water appearing at a lower fixture are also useful symptoms to mention. They don't establish one particular diagnosis, but they can help us decide which part of the system needs attention.

It's better to discuss a persistent restriction before it becomes an overflow. Stop using affected fixtures if wastewater is escaping, and call for urgent help rather than continue testing the drain with more water. Let us know about chemical products or previous clearing attempts so the person working on the line understands any hazards and what's already been tried.

Get help with a slow drain

Can tree roots cause sewer line blockages?

Yes. The City of Winnipeg explains that roots can enter sewer pipes through joints, cracks or separations, particularly where older pipes have deteriorated or shifted. Root growth can restrict the line, but having a mature tree nearby doesn't prove roots are the cause of your particular backup.

We'll ask about previous findings and recurring symptoms, then discuss whether further assessment is appropriate. Removing an obstruction and repairing the opening that allowed roots into the line are different considerations. Any ongoing maintenance needs should follow the assessed condition, not an invented schedule for every Winnipeg property. We won't recommend removing a tree or replacing an entire sewer just from its location.

What is a drain camera inspection?

A drain camera inspection uses a camera inside an accessible line to view visible internal conditions. It can help investigate recurring blockages or suspected damage, but it isn't the same as clearing a drain or locating every concealed pipe. Access, bends, obstructions and visibility can limit what can be seen.

We'll discuss whether an inspection would help answer a specific question and confirm the available inspection scope before booking. It isn't automatically required for every slow sink, and it can't guarantee that every defect will be visible. Ask what the proposed inspection includes and how its findings would inform cleaning or repair decisions, rather than assume a camera visit is a repair in itself.

Drain camera inspection information

Why does my basement drain back up?

A restriction in the property's drainage, damaged piping or a sewer-system capacity issue can cause wastewater to return through a low fixture or basement drain. Winnipeg's official guidance notes that heavy rainfall can overwhelm sewer capacity and cause backups into unprotected basements. The point where water appears doesn't tell us the full cause.

Tell us whether the backup happens during water use, during rainfall or when other fixtures operate. Stop adding wastewater and stay out of contaminated water. We'll discuss the appropriate assessment. Drain cleaning, pipe repair and checking a backwater valve address different concerns; none should be presented as a universal cure for every basement-water problem.

Drain and backup concernsExisting backwater valve concernsCity guidance on basement flooding

Should I use chemical drain cleaners?

We recommend calling about persistent or recurring blockages rather than relying on repeated chemical treatments. A chemical product won't repair damaged piping or establish why the same drain keeps blocking. If it remains in standing water, it can also create a hazard for anyone trying to work on the fixture.

Don't mix products or add other chemicals in an attempt to strengthen a treatment. If you've already used something, tell us the product and when it was added before work begins. Keep grease, hair, food scraps and wipes out of the drains to reduce avoidable restrictions. The City specifically advises against flushing wipes, including products labelled flushable or biodegradable.

Toilets, Faucets & Fixtures

Why does my toilet keep running?

A worn flush seal, a filling component that isn't shutting off correctly or an unsuitable tank water level can keep water moving through a toilet. If it refills between uses, water may be escaping from the tank into the bowl even though the bathroom floor stays dry. That can waste water without an obvious puddle.

We'll discuss when it runs and assess which component needs attention. A fill valve controls water entering the tank; a flush seal controls the tank's outlet to the bowl. They aren't interchangeable diagnoses. Many component faults can be considered for repair, depending on compatible parts and the fixture's condition. You don't automatically need a whole new toilet.

Running toilet repair

What causes a toilet to leak around the base?

A failed drain seal, a connection concern or water travelling from the tank or supply can leave moisture around the base. Condensation is another possibility. Cracked porcelain can also leak, but a wet floor alone doesn't prove that the toilet body is cracked or that a particular seal has failed.

Stop using a leaking fixture and call us to discuss assessment, especially if water reaches the ceiling below. Don't simply cover the area with sealant or repeatedly tighten the mounting bolts. If the toilet rocks, the mounting or floor may need attention too. We'll explain whether the work involves a connection repair, resealing, replacement or additional work outside the fixture itself.

Leaking toilet repairInvestigating a plumbing leak

Why does my toilet keep clogging?

The obstruction may be in the toilet, but a restriction farther along its drain can produce similar symptoms. Flushing wipes and other unsuitable materials can contribute. If the tub, sink or floor drain also reacts when you flush, tell us: replacing the toilet won't necessarily solve a shared drainage problem.

We want to understand whether the fixture clears at all, how often the problem returns and what previous attempts achieved. Stop flushing if the water is rising or overflowing, and don't keep adding water to test it. We'll discuss whether the toilet needs attention, the drain needs clearing or further investigation would help explain a recurring problem.

Toilet repairDrain cleaning for recurring clogs

Is it better to repair or replace a toilet?

Repair can make sense when a compatible tank component or connection can be serviced and the rest of the toilet is sound. Cracked porcelain, repeated faults, unavailable parts or a fixture that no longer suits your needs can make replacement more practical. We don't treat every running toilet as a reason to buy a new fixture.

Before choosing a replacement, we'll discuss the existing connections, mounting and available space. A damaged floor or drain connection can change the work involved. If clogging is the main complaint, the drainage needs consideration too. Ask us what each option would solve and what the estimate includes before buying a toilet that may not suit the installation.

Toilet repair optionsReplacement toilet installation

Why does my faucet keep dripping?

A worn seal, cartridge or other internal component may allow water through when the faucet is off. Moisture around the base or beneath the sink can instead involve connections or another part of the fixture. The faucet's type, model and the exact leak location help us discuss the likely repair scope.

A suitable replacement component may be worthwhile if the rest of the faucet is in good condition. Extensive deterioration, unavailable parts or a desired fixture upgrade can make replacement sensible. Don't force a stiff handle or assume every drip uses the same repair kit. Tell us whether it's a bathroom, kitchen or outdoor faucet, and whether the leak continues when the fixture isn't being used.

Faucet repairFaucet installation

Can you help with bathroom and kitchen plumbing renovations?

Yes. We help homeowners and businesses plan plumbing changes for bathroom and kitchen renovations, including fixture installations and related supply and drainage work. Tell us whether fixtures are staying in place or moving, what you're considering installing and whether other trades are involved. Moving a fixture can be a different scope from replacing it in the same location.

Early discussion helps identify access, compatibility and sequencing concerns before finishes are completed. Any applicable permit or inspection requirements need confirmation for the actual project; we don't assume every renovation has the same requirements. We offer free on-site estimates for larger projects and a final walkthrough after completing the agreed plumbing work.

Winnipeg Plumbing & Seasonal Problems

Why do plumbing pipes freeze during Winnipeg winters?

Water in a pipe can freeze when the surrounding conditions become cold enough, particularly where the pipe is exposed to cold air or runs through an inadequately heated area. The City of Winnipeg identifies factors including weather, frost depth, pipe location, ground depth and insulation. A newer property isn't automatically free of freezing risk.

Tell us which fixtures have lost flow and whether both hot and cold supplies are affected. A loss of water in winter doesn't always mean the water heater has failed. Don't use a flame or open the piping to investigate. We'll discuss the symptoms and appropriate next steps without assuming the frozen section is safely accessible or on one particular side of the service connection.

Discuss a suspected frozen pipeCity guidance on frozen-pipe risks

How can I reduce the risk of frozen pipes?

Before winter, locate your main water shutoff, disconnect outdoor hoses and address vulnerable pipe locations. The City's guidance recommends insulating pipes, sealing air leaks and insulating unheated areas. For outdoor taps, follow the suitable shutoff and draining arrangement for your plumbing rather than assume every faucet is designed the same way.

During winter, maintain appropriate heat and keep garage doors closed where water pipes are nearby. Opening kitchen or bathroom cabinets can allow warm air to circulate around vulnerable indoor plumbing. If you're away, check your insurance policy's property-check requirements. Ask us about areas that have frozen before; insulation alone doesn't resolve every cold-air leak, location issue or loss of heating.

Ask about vulnerable plumbingOfficial Winnipeg frozen-pipe prevention advice

What should I do if my outdoor faucet freezes?

Stop using it and don't force the handle. Don't use a torch, open flame or improvised heating method. If there's an accessible indoor shutoff serving that faucet and you can identify and reach it safely, isolating the supply may help limit damage from a split connection when the ice thaws. Don't dismantle frozen or pressurized parts.

Call us about the location and any visible leaking. A pipe can be damaged even when the ice temporarily prevents water from escaping, so watch for leakage as conditions warm without entering unsafe areas. We'll discuss assessment and repair options. Before the next winter, disconnecting hoses and checking the appropriate seasonal shutoff arrangement can reduce avoidable risk.

Why are basement backups a concern during spring thaw?

Snowmelt can increase the amount of water around a property, but basement water has more than one possible source. Winnipeg distinguishes overland flooding, where water enters from outside, from sewer backup through the house drainage system. Heavy rainfall can also overwhelm sewer capacity. A wet basement isn't enough to conclude that a drain is clogged.

Tell us where the water first appeared and whether plumbing fixtures back up. We'll discuss whether drainage assessment or attention to an existing backwater valve may be relevant. The City recommends maintaining flood-protection systems and improving drainage around the property. No valve, cleaning visit or single repair should be described as preventing every type of basement flooding.

Backwater valve repairBackwater valve installationCity explanation of basement and overland flooding

Does Winnipeg water cause mineral buildup?

Dissolved minerals can leave deposits as water is heated or dries on fixtures, but a mark on a faucet doesn't tell us the mineral concentration or prove that water quality caused an equipment fault. We don't label all Winnipeg water as severely hard or quote an unsupported hardness figure. Your actual water supply and the equipment's condition matter.

If you have recurring deposits, reduced performance or a concern about treatment, tell us whether the property uses municipal water or another supply and share any relevant test results. We'll discuss the concern before recommending treatment equipment. The City's published drinking-water information is the appropriate starting point for municipal test results, not a sales claim about every local property.

When should I consider replacing older plumbing pipes?

Repeated leaks, visible deterioration, persistent pressure concerns or an assessment identifying damaged piping are reasons to discuss repair and replacement options. Age helps provide context, but we won't recommend replacing every pipe just because your Winnipeg property is older. Supply piping and sewer piping also have different concerns and shouldn't be treated as one system.

We'll discuss the material and condition where known, which sections are affected and what access the work would require. A targeted repair may be appropriate; a wider repiping project can make sense when problems are extensive. Ask what the work includes and whether opening and restoring walls or finishes must be arranged separately. A renovation can be a useful time to consider accessible piping.

Warranties & Workmanship

Does Drainex Plumbing guarantee its work?

We stand behind the quality of our work. All plumbing services we perform are backed by a 30-day workmanship guarantee. If an issue arises within 30 days of service completion due to an error in our workmanship, we'll return and correct it at no additional labour cost.

That's our workmanship guarantee, not a promise that every future plumbing issue or product failure is covered. The exclusions and separate manufacturer terms matter. We complete a final walkthrough so you can ask about the finished work; if a concern arises afterwards, contact us promptly with the service details. We'll discuss the issue against the applicable terms rather than assume every return visit is free.

Read the full workmanship guarantee

What does the 30-day workmanship guarantee cover?

We stand behind the quality of our work. All plumbing services we perform are backed by a 30-day workmanship guarantee. If an issue arises within 30 days of service completion due to an error in our workmanship, we'll return and correct it at no additional labour cost.

The key points are the cause and timing: the issue must arise within 30 days of service completion and be due to an error in our workmanship. A problem occurring after a repair isn't automatically caused by that repair. Tell us what happened and when so we can discuss whether the concern relates to the original work. Product defects are considered separately under the relevant manufacturer's terms.

Approved workmanship coverage and terms

What is excluded from the workmanship guarantee?

This guarantee covers workmanship-related issues only. It does not cover defective parts, equipment, materials, manufacturer defects, normal wear and tear, misuse, or issues unrelated to the original service. Parts and equipment may be covered separately under their respective manufacturer's warranties.

For example, a part that fails because of a manufacturing defect is different from an error in the work we performed. A new blockage elsewhere in the system may also be unrelated to the original service. We need to understand the cause before deciding which terms apply. Please don't assume that all parts, replacement equipment or associated labour are free simply because work was completed recently.

Read the approved exclusionsSeparate manufacturer warranty terms

Are replacement parts and water heaters covered by manufacturer's warranties?

We install quality plumbing parts, fixtures, and equipment backed by their respective manufacturer's warranties. Warranty coverage and duration vary depending on the product and manufacturer.

Manufacturer's warranties typically cover defects in materials or manufacturing, subject to the manufacturer's terms and conditions.

These warranties do not generally cover normal wear and tear, misuse, accidental damage, improper maintenance, or unauthorized modifications. Labour costs associated with replacing or repairing defective products may not be covered.

If you experience an issue with a product we've installed, contact us. We'll help you determine whether the issue may qualify for coverage under the manufacturer's warranty.

Keep the product information and service paperwork available. Any claim needs to be considered against that product's actual terms, eligibility and coverage period; our 30-day workmanship guarantee doesn't extend or replace the manufacturer's coverage.

Read the full manufacturer warranty information

What should I do if something goes wrong after a repair?

Contact us promptly with the service date, the work performed and a description of what's changed. Note whether the concern is the same symptom as before, a new leak or a product fault. If you have relevant paperwork or product details, keep them handy. We'll discuss the concern and which coverage terms may apply.

For active flooding, sewage or an electrical hazard near water, put safety first and call rather than wait for a form reply. Our guarantee covers eligible workmanship errors within 30 days at no additional labour cost; manufacturer defects and unrelated problems are different. Don't assume a return visit, replacement part or all associated labour is automatically covered.

Service Areas

What areas does Drainex Plumbing serve?

We're based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Winnipeg is our primary service area. We also serve Portage la Prairie, Steinbach, Oak Bluff, Oakbank, Beausejour, Lockport, Stony Mountain and Stonewall. These are service communities, not a list of separate Drainex offices.

Call with the property address and the work you need so we can confirm availability, travel expectations and the appropriate scope. Being in a listed community doesn't guarantee an immediate appointment or the same arrival time for every call. For urgent water or sewage problems, explain the situation by phone so we can discuss expected arrival rather than rely on a general enquiry form.

Explore our service areas

Do you provide plumbing services outside Winnipeg?

Yes. Alongside Winnipeg, we serve the eight surrounding Manitoba communities listed in our service-area directory. We're a Winnipeg-based business providing mobile, on-site plumbing, so we'll discuss travel and availability for the actual address rather than imply there's a local office wherever we work.

Tell us whether you need a small repair, urgent assistance or a larger project. Location, access and the type of work can affect the arrangements. If your property is outside the listed communities, ask us directly instead of assuming coverage. We won't promise service or a particular travel charge before confirming the location and job details with you.

Check listed service communitiesConfirm service for an address

Can you travel to Steinbach or Portage la Prairie?

Yes. Both Steinbach and Portage la Prairie are confirmed service communities. Call us with your address, the symptoms or project scope and how urgently you need help. We'll discuss availability and any travel arrangements before you rely on a booking or arrival expectation.

Our base is in Winnipeg. For an emergency, the one-hour arrival target must be confirmed by phone for your specific address and current availability. A community appearing on our website isn't, by itself, a guaranteed dispatch time. For planned work, we'll discuss the appropriate scheduling and estimate process.

How can I confirm emergency service availability in my community?

Call (204) 869-2383 and give us the full service address, community name and a brief description of the emergency. Tell us whether water or sewage is escaping and whether there are safety concerns. We'll confirm availability and expected arrival for that location; don't assume a web form has dispatched a plumber.

Our emergency service is available 24/7, 365 days a year, with a one-hour arrival target subject to phone confirmation of location and availability. That's not a universal travel-time promise for every listed community. While arranging help, avoid sewage and electrical hazards, and isolate the water supply only if you can identify and reach the appropriate shutoff safely.
